How Does Automatic Delivery Work?

There’s a reason why many of our heating oil and propane customers take advantage of our free automatic delivery service. This is a proven method that allows us to manage your fuel supply, freeing you up to handle other important household tasks during the heating season.

When you enroll in our no-cost automatic delivery program, you won’t have to worry about calling us during the winter when your heating oil or propane tank is running low—or, even worse, you run out of fuel. When this happens, we have to disrupt our delivery routes to help customers who prefer to call in their orders.

This causes delivery delays for our customers. These disruptions can really wreak havoc during cold weather, especially if we have some drivers out sick.

Here’s how our automatic delivery service works. Walton’s uses your prior heating fuel usage and current weather conditions to accurately predict when you are going to need more heating fuel. When the time comes, we schedule a delivery to your home before you run low. It’s the ultimate in peace of mind!

Calling for Your Deliveries

Most of our customers like the convenience and protection of our automatic delivery service. But for those who prefer to keep control of watching the level of their fuel tank, we are ready and able to oblige.

With our large fleet of trucks, we can get fuel to you when others can’t—faster and more reliably. So, if you prefer to call us with your order, that’s fine. Just remember a few important points:

While we can make some deliveries within a day in cases of extreme emergency, it is always best to give us at least three days’ notice. The three working day advance notice is necessary for scheduling your home into a delivery route.
We suggest giving us even more notice if there is a storm coming or we’re locked in a long cold spell.

Be Ready for a Heating Oil or Propane Delivery

Here’s what you can do to help make sure that your heating fuel can be delivered as efficiently as possible during the winter.

Make sure your propane tank or outside heating oil tank is always cleared of ice and snow.
Use extreme care with propane tanks so you don’t damage the shut-off valve at the top when clearing ice or snow.
Shovel a path to your tank or oil fill pipe after a snow storm.
Mark the location of an underground tank with a stake that is visible above snow so our driver can find it easily.
Keep your driveway sanded and plowed and create a wide enough path so our bulk trucks can navigate it safely.
