New incentives for energy efficiency

Clyde S. Walton recommend our customers to take advantage of programs that encourage energy conservation and reduce fuel costs. Here are some current programs that make it easier for you to save fuel and money with new energy-efficient equipment.

		The federal government is currently offering substantial tax credits to homeowners who install energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment. If you make eligible improvements, you can claim 30% of the cost, up to a maximum of $1,500. Read more.

		With the Keystone HELP® Energy Efficiency Loan & Rebate Program, most Pennsylvania homeowners who meet the program's eligibility guidelines can get a low-cost loan or a rebate for energy-saving eligible improvements installed by a Keystone HELP® Approved Contractor. Read more.

		The PECO Natural Gas Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers a $300 rebate to PECO customers who install an Energy Star qualified, high-efficiency natural gas furnace or boiler. Contact us for more information about this and other PA state rebates.

Take advantage of federal tax credits

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), commonly known as “the stimulus act,” contains substantial incentives for homeowners who make energy-efficient improvements. This includes installing a high-efficiency boiler, water heater or central air conditioning system.

ARRA provides for a federal tax credits equal to 30% of the cost of the improvement, up to a maximum of $1,500. The equipment installed must meet specific benchmarks for energy efficiency. Here are some examples:


		Central a/c split systems must have an energy efficiency rating than (EER) that is equal to or greater than of 13 and a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) equal to or greater than 16.

		An oil furnace must have an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) of at least 90%.

		A propane or oil hot water boiler must have an AFUE of at least 90%.

The tax credit also applies to a solar water heating systems. This credit also covers 30% of the cost, but there is no dollar maximum. The homeowner could expect to save thousands of dollars on a solar water heater.

Keystone HELP® Energy Efficiency Loan & Rebate Program

This program is designed to help Pennsylvania homeowners who meet eligibility guidelines to get low-cost loans or rebates for energy-saving improvements, including high-efficiency heating, central air conditioning, air sealing, insulation, windows, doors, geothermal and “whole house” improvements.

Qualifying homeowners can also get low-cost financing and a $325 energy audit credit for energy-saving "whole house" improvements performed by a Keystone HELP® trained or certified contractor implementing the recommendations of a certified auditor who has conducted a comprehensive energy audit of your home.
